It’s been over two decades since I first played Ragnarok Online, and when I heard about Ragnarok X: Next Generation, I couldn’t resist giving it a try. One hour later, I was pleasantly surprised at how much has changed, and yet how nostalgic it felt.
Starting as a Novice, the game guides you almost effortlessly through the early stages. I spent the first hour following quests, learning the ropes, and exploring the environment before even facing real combat. My first encounter? Just a single Mandragora! And that trial battle at Criatura Academy? Technically “training,” so I’m not counting that as real combat either.
One of the things I immediately noticed is how different this game is from the original Ragnarok Online, not just in graphics but also in gameplay. It’s smoother, more automated, and beginner-friendly. Before I knew it, I had advanced to the Merchant class. The game almost plays itself at times, but in a good way, it lets you enjoy the world, story, and characters without feeling overwhelmed.
Ragnarok X is available on mobile, PC, and through BlueStacks, making it super accessible. If you’ve ever wanted to revisit the world of Rune Midgard without diving into the complexities of the old game, this is a perfect starting point.
