Reality about Reality Web Design

Posted in Random Thoughts on March 14th, 2011 by Romelo Itong

I first posted this story way back in 2003 but it got lost somewhere. I was able to salvage it using the Wayback Machine.

A couple of months ago an individual named Shamshad contacted me regarding some web design work. He introduced himself to me and said that he is with Reality Web Design. His proposal was if I could submit a design study for one of their project they will give me more projects to work on. Seeing that this could be a new opportunity to earn some additional income, I gladly agreed and submitted a design study. After a while he contacted me again. Now, he is saying that the client liked another designer’s design but this designer was charging too much for it. So, he asked me if I could create a design which is the same but not exactly as the one the other designer made. And so I did. In fact, I created 2 designs and a flash animation for the main banner. Unfortunately, he told me that the client still liked the other designers design and he will stick too that even if he will not earn any money and he will send me some cash for my effort. The said cash never came.

He again contacted me regarding a new web design project. This was for a friend of his. It was a sporting site for a store and it will only have one page. I asked him how much will he charge the client for this one page website. He said that because this was his friend he will not charge him anything for it and he promise that he will still send me the money he promised before. It again never came. Website for DMC College Foundation

Posted in Web Design on October 17th, 2010 by Romelo Itong

A couple of months ago, I was able to deliver a website for DMC College Foundation, Inc. It took me a while to finish the website because of various personal issues like having to use an underpowered computer to design and create the website. The computer I use for work broke a few months back and I still haven’t replaced it because, like my work computer, I was also broke. Currently, I am using my children’s computer and it’s the same computer I used in designing and creating the website for DMC College Foundation.

For the design of the website, the instruction given by the client was to create a design that is fun, colorful, young, hip and lively. The main color scheme used on the design was based on the school color which is predominantly green. The first design I created was rejected by the client but the second design was accepted and approved by them. Read the rest of this entry »

Low Realty

This is a web design I created for a client who suddenly disappeared on me. LOL! It’s supposed to be for a realty company. I created this design two years ago and I happened to stumble on it just recently while re-organizing the files on my drive.

Anyway, the design is very nice and it would be a waste to just leave it on my hard drive so I’m selling it for only $10.00 (non-exclusive). Please note that the purchase will include the PSD file of the design only and if you wish to purchase it exclusively then please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Keep It Simple

Posted in Web Design on July 18th, 2008 by Romelo Itong

In the past few years that I have surfed the net, I have seen websites that use designs that are way too complex for ordinary web surfers. Complex designs are those designs only the designer can understand and navigate through. I am also not to keen on designs that use a lot of graphics for the sole reason of not being to view them immediately, slow download time.

Remember, web design should always be about simplicity, simplicity in structure, simplicity in layout and simplicity in design. Why keep it simple? Read the rest of this entry »
