E-Book Cover Designs For Invest For Living

Posted in Graphics Design on January 23rd, 2012 by Romelo Itong

A couple of days ago, I designed three e-book covers for Invest For Living. The client requested three different designs so he could choose. As for the design, the client required that it must be clean. Well, I don’t really know exactly what clean means but I still created the designs and submitted them to the client.

The materials provided by the client are the name or logo and the coins with plant image. Of course, the images can be changed anytime. The client just need to send over their preferred images and I’ll replace the ones I used in the design. If the client is fine with the images used then it is still up to the client if they want to keep it or change it. Read the rest of this entry »

DVD Disc Case and Cover Designs

Posted in Graphics Design on May 10th, 2011 by Romelo Itong

After creating a couple of DVD Disc Cover designs for a client, I was later asked to design something with a DVD Disc Case on it. Designing the Disc Cover was easy because I’ve already created a couple but designing something for the Disc Case was very new to me at that time. Fortunately, I was given a sample of how it looks and seeing it helped me in creating the designs for the DVD Disc Case and Cover.

The DVD Disc Case and Cover design for the Live It Now Disc (seen above) was the first one I did and it was followed by the DVD Disc Case and Cover design for the Free Audio Download Disc. The client didn’t have any specific instructions for the design except maybe for the text on it and logo on the Live It Now Case and Disc. I was free to design the Case and Cover anyway I want. It’s Good but It’s Not?

Posted in Random Thoughts on June 1st, 2009 by Romelo Itong

I have been working for this company in the United States as an offshore design resource, more or less, for 6 months now. My job is to design and create e-mail promo and survey promo landing pages and other graphics for their clients with the occassional HTML and website jobs. In that 6 months period, my contacts will tell me that the designs I make are good but they will also talk to me from time to time informing that my designs are not up to par with their standards. Now this is a little bit confusing for me because how can they be good if they’re not up to par with their standards, right? O_o

I was removed from designing e-mail promo pages but was transferred to designing survey promo pages. A template was provided for me to use and I was instructed to just base my designs on the template’s design, which I did. At first, everything was running smoothly and I was commended for doing a great job on the designs I make even though all of them looked basically the same with minor variations on the fonts used, gradient styling, color scheme, etc. but they were fine with that simple style. Portfolio Items Removed

Posted in Random Thoughts on January 15th, 2008 by Romelo Itong

Today, I removed a few items from my portfolio. A former client requested that they be removed and so I did with no questions asked.

Former? Yeah, I decided to drop the client after learning that I was working at a rate of less than $20 per job on my last jobs for them and that includes web and print work like websites, brochures, posters, etc. I conferred my decision to my wife (she scolded me bad when I told her about the rate) and a few friends and they were right, even with my shortcomings, a rate of less than $20 for a website is hitting the ground bad specially with today’s peso-dollar exchange rate of P39 to a dollar ($20 would only be less than P800).
